Meme coin scams and how to spot them

Most memecoin losses are not scams, they are bad trades. But the scams are real and they repeat. Here are the ones that cost traders the most, what each looks like, and the check that catches it.

Three rules that stop most of them

  1. Never share your seed phrase or private key, with anyone, for any reason.
  2. Buy by contract address from a source you trust, never by ticker.
  3. Run the rug check before every buy; it takes seconds.

The rug check

Every coin carries a safety read that answers "is this a rug?" in one number, with the reasons under it: mint and freeze authority, whether liquidity is locked or pulled, the dev's past launches (serial launchers are flagged), bundle and sniper share, top-holder concentration and whether the dev sold. A bubble map draws the wallets that are linked by funding so a coin held by one person through twenty wallets looks like it. A coin can pass the rug check and still go to zero: the check is about the setup, not the chart.

The BLIX community

Every account comes with the BLIX Discord: the people trading on the terminal, the narratives as they form, feature drops before they are announced, and the team answering questions. Join the Discord once you have signed up.

Check a coin before you buy

Memecoins are extremely risky and most go to zero. Nothing on this page is financial advice.

Frequently asked questions

How do I avoid meme coin scams?

Buy by contract address, check the dev, bundles and authorities before buying, never sign transactions on sites from DMs, and never share a seed phrase.

What is a wallet drainer?

A malicious site or transaction that, once you sign it, moves your tokens and SOL to the attacker.

Can I get money back from a rug pull?

Almost never. Anyone offering to recover it for a fee is running a second scam.
